Often a tree gets to the point where it is needed to bid farewell to it.
It can be a painful option to make, but often the tree gets too near to the house, gets too infected, gets an incurable infestation of some pest, or grows too high and gets close to a power line.
If any of these things occur, its best to do the best thing and eliminate the tree.
Although you might have spent hours and hours getting the tree to where it is today, it is almost wrong to the tree to enable it to suffer in bad conditions.
Sometimes a tree specifies where it is necessary to say goodbye to it.
It can be a painful option to make, however sometimes the tree gets too close to the house, gets too diseased, gets an incurable invasion of some bug, or grows too tall and gets close to a power line.
If any of these things occur, its finest to do the ideal thing and get rid of the tree.
Although you may have invested hours and hours getting the tree to where it is today, it is nearly wrong to the tree to allow it to suffer in bad conditions.
When you have made the choice to remove the tree, you need to prepare its removal.
I can’t begin to count the number of windows I’ve seen knocked out or vehicles I’ve seen crushed because of poor planning in the tree elimination process.
Choose what direction you desire it to fall, and precisely measure to make sure it will fall entirely clear of anything else that it could perhaps trigger damage to.
When you have the falling direction planned out, you need to climb the tree and tie 2 long ropes near the top.
Anchor them on the opposite side of the one that you desire it to fall towards.
This will permit you to change the direction the tree is being decreased in, simply in case it begins leaning towards anything it might destroy.
Now that you’ve taken all the essential safety measures, you are ready to start chopping.
If you intend on utilizing a by hand operated saw or axe, please step back and consider how crazy that is.
Chopping down a tree by hand will take you forever, and will not even start to be as accurate as using a chainsaw.
If you don’t have a chainsaw, you should not even consider doing it without one.
Ask around with your next-door neighbors and see if anyone has one that you could borrow.
If that does not work, rent or buy one from your local home improvement shop.
Before you begin chopping away at the tree, you must wear appropriate eye and face defense in case any wood chips fly towards your eyes.
I had a pal who blinded his right eye while lowering a tree, so I hope all of my readers do not make the same error as he did.
Whenever you run a power tool, always be sure to wear correct defense for any exposed parts of your body.
When making the cut, you do not want to just cut a straight line into the tree.
It is best to cut a sideways “V” into the tree.
This is because if you cut the straight line, the tree will wind up rolling to one side or the other.
If you cut in a “V”, the tree will have the ability to fall in the exact instructions that you want it to fall.
Occasionally it might be a few feet off due to human error during the cutting process, but if you have some strong pals pull on the ropes you connected, you can line it back up with the path you desired it to take.
The entire procedure shouldn’t take more than an hour.
Removal of the stump can be slightly harder.
You have a number of options; you can rent a stump chipper that will completely ruin the visible area of the stump.
Or you can spend many hours digging it out.
Digging out the stump is much more thorough, but takes forever.
If you have kids this shouldn’t be an issue.
Kids typically find the thought of digging enjoyable, and are thrilled to go outdoors and dig all day long with their buddies.
This was the technique I used, and I had the entire stump out within a week.
Keep in mind that my stump had to do with 1 foot in diameter, and digging probably will not work for stumps much larger than that.
Sometimes a tree gets to the point where it is necessary to say bye-bye to it.
It can be an uncomfortable option to make, but in some cases the tree gets too close to the house, gets too unhealthy, gets an incurable infestation of some pest, or grows too high and gets close to a power line.
If any of these things take place, its finest to do the right thing and get rid of the tree.
You might have spent hours and hours getting the tree to where it is today, it is almost dishonorable to the tree to enable it to suffer in bad conditions.
When making the cut, you do not desire to just cut a straight line into the tree.
